About AWL

The Animal Welfare League of South Australia Inc (AWL) is a wefare and care provider recognised for the provision and development of services for animals in need.

Established in 1964, the AWL operate the state's largest animal shelter at Wingfield, as well as a Shelters at Edinburgh North and an Adoption Centre in Port Adelaide, and lead the industry in caring for and re-homing lost, surrendered and abandoned animals, around 12,000 per year.

The AWL is proud of its contribution, together with other industry stakeholders, in providing a high quality animal care facility and related services to the state's animals, their owners and the broader community.

The AWLSA has an elected Board who govern the activities of the organisation including long-term strategic direction and governance responsibilities.

The Management Team, under the guidance of Chief Executive Officer Richard Mussell, are responsible for managing the operations of the business.
