About our Animal Care Centre

The purpose-built vet clinic has two operating theatres with three heated surgical tables, five consult rooms, separate cat and dog wards, IM3 dental machine, V5 anaesthetic monitoring, in-house bloods, digital x-ray, low-stress animal enclosures and fear-free design features. We do not offer veterinary services to the public, so interaction with clients is limited to foster care consultations only.

About the position

We are seeking a full-time experienced veterinarian to join our team of 3 vets and 6 vet nurses.  Working a 37.5hrs week between 8:00am and 4:00pm including one in four weekends. There is no after-hours work.

Working closely with the veterinary and animal care teams to ensure sound veterinary medical practices, the Veterinarian -

  • Provides animal care for all shelter animals, including health examinations, diagnostics, treatments, routine surgeries and consultations with our foster carers
  • Ability to perform routine surgical procedures and dental procedures
  • Maintains accurate and complete medical records
  • Will work as part of a three vet and five nurse team

About you

This role will suit someone who is flexible, energetic, intuitive and motivated with the following skills and experience -

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of issues relating to animal welfare
  • Knowledge of procedures used in administering and monitoring anaesthesia, providing emergency care, and performing routine surgeries and dental procedures
  • Knowledge of cat and dog breeds, basic animal behaviour and low-stress handling
  • Current registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia
  • Knowledge and understanding of state veterinary legislations
