Apply to adoptHey everyone its Alphonso here to tell you why you should consider adopting a senior man like myself. Well firstly look how handsome I am! I'm still quite an active boy and you wouldn't know I was 9 so I can still keep up with an active lifestyle and would very much enjoy some hikes and adventures to keep me mentally and physically healthy. I do have some phobias which I am hoping with the right people, environment and support system will be something that can be worked through and you will be able to see the true happy boy inside of me that the staff here have seen. I can be quite independent at times having a good sniff but then I also love being near my people and them telling me what a good boy I am. I would like a home where there is maybe someone home most of the time and a home with an open-door policy is a must! because of my age I would prefer a home with no younger children as I think its time to let myself truly rest and not have all these expectations from me. If you're retired and still young at heart like me with an active lifestyle, I might just be what you're looking for. Please put you're application in and give me a reason to let my inner puppy out again.

Cats - If you wish to adopt a cat (who is not adopt by application), you are welcome to visit our Wingfield location between 10am and 3pm, Tuesday to Sunday, or our Edinburgh North location between 10am and 3pm, Thursday to Sunday.
Dogs - If you wish to adopt a dog, you must complete the application form first and if your application is successful you will be contacted by an AWL staff member and proceed to the next steps of your adoption journey.
Please note we no longer do walk throughs of cats or dogs in order to provide a calmer environment for them.
Once you have met an animal you would like to adopt, you can take them home the same day as all AWL animals are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and health checked ready for their new home (yes, even the kittens and puppies!)
