Meet meHi there, I'm Shimmer.
I know my name sounds confident and sparkly, but the truth is I'm still learning to shine. I'm a young girl with a soft coat, big curious eyes, and an even bigger heart, though you might not see all of that right away. When I meet new people, I tend to hang back and watch first. The world can feel a bit loud and confusing, so I need someone who understands that trust takes time.
But here's my little secret: once I do feel safe, I melt completely. I roll onto my side, lean into every gentle touch, and I drool when I'm happy. I can't help it, it's my way of showing I'm relaxed and content. When I'm comfortable, all of my sweetness comes pouring out, and I become the softest, snuggliest version of myself.
I'm looking for a calm, patient, and understanding home where I can take things at my own pace. Because I'm FIV positive, I'll need to live indoors only, and I can't share my home with other cats. But I promise that if you give me the time and space I need to trust, I'll fill your world with gentle purrs, warm roll-overs, and all the drooly affection you can handle. Maybe you'll be the one who helps me shine my brightest.

Cats - If you wish to adopt a cat you are welcome to visit both our Wingfield and Edinburgh North locations between 10am and 3pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
Dogs - If you wish to adopt a dog, you are welcome to visit our Wingfield location between 10am and 3pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Dog adoptions from Edinburgh North are by application only. Please fill out the application form on the dog's profile and wait for our staff to contact you.

Once you have met an animal you would like to adopt, you can take them home the same day as all AWL animals are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and health checked ready for their new home (yes, even the kittens and puppies!)
