Our Educational Presentation provides an opportunity to find answers to these questions and more. 

You will learn about the wonderful work the AWL does to care for the thousands of lost, abandoned and surrendered animals that arrive at our shelters each year.

The story does not end there because we also find animals new homes and offer ongoing support for future and existing pet owners.

Location: Pet Education Specialist will visit your site

Fees: $100.00 per presentation

Maximum Number: Suitable for large groups

Duration: approx 1 hour

Inclusions: Each student and lecturer receives a take home pack

An excursion to the AWL provides an opportunity to:

  • Learn about the 4As-  4 actions to take so we show our we love and care for them
    • De-sexing
    • Identifying
    • Enrichment
    • Safety
  • Participate in a short tour of our Wingfield site
  • Depending on the day, observe a dog training demonstration
  • Get up close and personal with the animals
  • Engage in making enrichment activities for the animals in the shelter
  • Engage in activities that encourages discussions on issues such as;
    • Pet overpopulation
    • Animal welfare
    • Strategies to reduce the number of lost, abandoned and surrendered animals in our community.

Location: Wingfield Shelter 

Fees: $8.00 per student (Lecturers free)

Maximum Number: 30 per session

Duration: approx 2 hours

Inclusions: Each student and lecturer receives a take home pack

The AWL Tour de Fur provides you with a unique guided behind the scenes look at one of South Australia’s biggest and busiest animal shelte

Our Tour de Fur covers the following topics:

  • The history and growth of the AWL
  • The dog shelter and cattery AWL Vet Clinic for the animals in the shelter
  • The AWL pet services Making an informed decision about owning a pet
  • Adopt Don’t Shop
  • Ways to improve the welfare needs of pet 

Location: Wingfield Shelter 

Fees: $5.00 per participant

Maximum Number: 15 per tour

Duration: approx 1 hour

Inclusions: Each student and lecturer receives a take home pack
