Meet meMeet Desi - our longest shelter resident and the ultimate canine athlete with a heart full of love and energy to spare.
This playful, high-spirited girl needs a home with a very tall fence (over 6 feet) because her jumping skills are seriously impressive. Desi's ideal home includes another dog who matches her playful, energetic style - preferably a young, social pup who can be her partner in zoomies and help her continue learning good manners along the way.
Don't let her athleticism fool you - Desi's also a big softie who loves to cuddle and settles beautifully after a good play session. She's looking for an active, committed family who will embrace her enthusiasm, provide consistent training, and give her the structure she thrives on. While lovely, sometimes Desi forgets her size and strength, meaning she is unsuitable for a family with young children.
With the right fur sibling and a little love, Desi will blossom into the perfect adventure buddy and snuggle companion. Let's get this amazing girl into the forever home she's been waiting for!

Cats - If you wish to adopt a cat you are welcome to visit both our Wingfield and Edinburgh North locations between 10am and 3pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
Dogs - If you wish to adopt a dog, you are welcome to visit our Wingfield location between 10am and 3pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Dog adoptions from Edinburgh North are by application only. Please fill out the application form on the dog's profile and wait for our staff to contact you.

Once you have met an animal you would like to adopt, you can take them home the same day as all AWL animals are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and health checked ready for their new home (yes, even the kittens and puppies!)
