The following terms and conditions apply to the provision of pet boarding and related services by Animal Welfare League of South Australia Inc. (“AWL”, “We” or “our”) to you (“pet Owner”, “You” or “your”). By making a booking with our pet Boarding facility, you will be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions. Amendments to these Terms and Conditions must be agreed in writing by us.
1. Disclosure
You must disclose any existing or previous medical conditions and/or unusual behaviours such as aggression, anxiety, timidness, of your pet, whilst making the booking.
2. Vaccinations and other treatments required before check-In (your booking is not valid without proof of vaccination)
2.1. You acknowledge and agree that all pets:
a) Must have been treated for fleas and worms not more than 1 month (fleas) or 3 months (worms), prior to the date of check-in;
b) Cats must have had an annual F3 or F4 vaccinations and must have completed:
1) An initial course of the vaccination at least 14 days prior to the date of check-in; or
2) A booster vaccination at least 7 days, but not more than 12 months, prior to the date of check-in;
c) Dogs must have had an annual Canine cough vaccination in the last 12 months. The C3 component of the vaccination needs to be as determined by your Veterinarian and must have completed:
1) An initial course of the vaccination at least 14 days prior to the date of check-in; or
2) A booster vaccination at least 7 days, but not more than 12 months, prior to the date of check-in;
2.2. The current vaccination certificate for the pet (as applicable) must be provided to AWL either upon making the booking or no later than 14 days prior to the date of check-in in order to confirm the booking. AWL reserves the right to cancel your booking if you fail to provide the pet’s current vaccination certificate, as required by this clause.
2.3. By presenting the pet for check-in at our boarding facility, you warrant and represent that the health treatment requirements in clause 2.1 above are satisfied.
2.4. AWL in its sole discretion may require that the pet have additional vaccinations prior to check-in to protect against additional diseases or parasites not protected against by the vaccinations in clause 2.1 above. In such circumstances we will provide reasonable notice to you.
2.5. If worms and/or fleas are detected on the pet at check-in or during boarding, the pet will receive immediate treatment at your cost.
3. Booking
You agree to provide all contact details including emergency contact phone numbers and other particulars required by AWL in order to accept a booking. You also agree to inform AWL immediately should any of the details change.
4. Deposits and Payments
4.1. A $40 deposit is required to secure your booking during off peak times. A $100 deposit is required to secure your booking during peak times. There is no guarantee that your booking will be held until receipt of the booking deposit.
4.2. The balance of the booking cost must be paid in full at check-in.
4.3. Payments can be made using any of the accepted payment methods specified on the booking form.
5. Check-in and Check-out (the office will be unattended between 12noon and 1pm)
5.1. Your pet must be dropped off and collected from AWL at an appointment time mutually agreed between you and AWL Boarding, at the time of your booking.
5.2. Check-out after 12 noon will incur an additional night accommodation fee.
5.3. A surcharge will apply for peak holiday periods (Easter/Christmas), long weekends and school holidays. (see booking form for surcharge amount)
5.4. All pets being dropped off or collected from our facility are to be on a leash or in a carrier.
5.5. If at check-out the pet is to be collected by a person other than the pet owner, the pet owner must at check-in provide AWL with the names and mobile phone number(s) of the person(s) authorised to collect the pet at check-out.
5.6. The pet owner acknowledges and agrees that the pet owner, pet owner’s emergency contact and the person(s) specified in clause 5.3 are authorised to pick up the pet. Photographic identification may be required before a pet is released.
6. Early Collection
6.1. Your pet may be collected earlier than the agreed departure date, provided that you have given a minimum 2 day’s notice to AWL Boarding. You acknowledge and agree that there will be no refund of any boarding costs for an early collection under this clause.
7. Abandoned pets
7.1. If a pet is not collected within 7 days of the agreed departure date and no communication is received by AWL from the pet owner or agreed emergency contact person specified in clause 5.3 seeking to extend the boarding period of the pet, the pet will be considered abandoned.
a) If the pet is abandoned, it is deemed that you have agreed to surrender the pet and forfeit any ownership rights to the pet, and that you acknowledge that appropriate action will be taken to transfer the pet to the AWL shelter for assessment and rehoming.
b) Any costs associated with the surrender of the pet and any additional boarding expenses incurred by AWL will remain your responsibility.
8. Medical treatment and / or death
8.1. Any animal requiring veterinary treatment will be attended to by a registered veterinary surgeon. All professional fees incurred are to be paid by you.
8.2. Should your pet require anaesthesia and/or emergency surgery, it is deemed that you give permission for the AWL appointed veterinary surgeon to carry out the necessary procedures; or send to an emergency clinic, or your nominated clinic if appropriate; with payment of all associated costs being your responsibility. Your nominated vet will be consulted with wherever practicable.
8.3. In the unlikely event your pet dies whilst being boarded with AWL, you agree and acknowledge that AWL will as soon as reasonably practicable after becoming aware of the death, contact the you or your emergency contact so that your wishes are honoured and respected in the handling and treatment of the deceased pet.
8.4. If deemed necessary by AWL, and unless otherwise directed by you prior to check-in, you agree that AWL will arrange for an independent autopsy to be performed by Gribbles Veterinary Pathology. (Please note remains are only available to be returned to you via cremated ashes following autopsy).
8.5. It is your responsibility to advise AWL prior to the boarding period or during the contact made should there be an occurrence, if you do not wish for an autopsy to be performed.
9. Bathing and grooming
All dogs will be bathed before going home if staying more than 3 days at the charge indicated in our menu for your pet.
If it is deemed that your pet requires extra services to ensure the comfort and welfare of the animal, this will be undertaken after consultation with the owner and charged according to the menu price for your pet.
10. Medication
All medication must be in original packaging accompanied by veterinarian dosage instructions and clearly labelled with the pet’s name. We will administer oral and topical medications for the fee quoted at the time of booking.
11. Cancellations
11.1. Notice must be provided by you within 7 days to AWL should you wish to cancel a booking.
11.2. You acknowledge and agree that if a booking is cancelled by you (in whole or in part), or by AWL in accordance with these Terms and Conditions within 7 days of the scheduled boarding start date, the refund of any amounts already paid to AWL at the time of cancellation will be forfeited.
12. Food & Belongings
12.1. Subject to clause 11.2, all pets will be fed pet food provided by AWL during their boarding period.
12.2. You must notify AWL of any special dietary requirements or preferences before the commencement of boarding and must supply all food in accordance with clause 11.3 for the duration of the pet’s boarding.
12.3. All food supplied by you must:
a) be individually packaged and portioned for each meal of each day of the pet’s boarding
b) be stored in zip-lock plastic bags or clear disposable containers clearly labelled with the pet’s name, timing of meal and date of which the meal should be given, together with all other necessary directions.
12.4. AWL reserves the right to change the pet’s diet if in our reasonable opinion the pet is experiencing stomach upset or is refusing to eat. If there is a requirement to procure special food in order to get the pet to eat, any additional cost will be charged to you.
12.5. AWL will provide all bedding and enrichment toys for your pet’s use during the boarding period.
12.6. Any bedding, toys, collars provided by you must be clearly labelled with the pet’s name. It is your responsibility to ensure that you receive all these items back at the end of your pet’s stay.
13. Miscellaneous
13.1. AWL, its officers, employees and agents will not be responsible or liable for any claim, action or proceeding for damages, compensation, loss, expense, costs, interest or other monetary amount howsoever arising relating to, arising out of or in connection with any injury, illness, trauma or other condition suffered by your animal, or the death of your animal, which may occur while or as a result of your animal boarding with the AWL.
13.2. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the AWL, its officers, employees and agents from and against any claim, action or proceeding for damages, compensation, loss, expense, costs, interest or other monetary amount howsoever arising relating to, arising out of or in connection with any injury, illness, trauma or other condition suffered by another animal, or the death of another animal, caused by your animal while boarding with the AWL.
