Chiko is a sensitive girl with a gentle soul and a spark of sass just waiting to shine. At first, she can be very shy and a little unsure in new situations or around new people. The world can feel big and overwhelming to her, so she's hoping to find a quiet home where she can feel safe and take things at her own pace. We are searching for a 1-2 person household and a gentle and patient
owner to slowly help her build that trust. This may take a couple of visits for her to be comfortable to go home with you.
With patience, kindness, and a little encouragement, Chiko truly blossoms. Once she gets to know her people, her cheeky and sassy personality comes to life. She has a playful streak and a charming way of making her humans smile. And when she feels comfortable, she transforms into the ultimate snuggle bug - affectionate, loyal, and happiest curled up close to her favorite people.
Chiko would thrive in a calm and patient household with people who understands that building confidence takes time. She is nervous of new situations and new people, so a steady, reassuring environment will help her feel secure and continue to grow. She's definitely not ready for big camping trips and lots of adventures, she just needs to get used to her new home and people and then nice quiet walks and of course lots of play and pool time at home. Chiko would prefer to be the only dog in the home while she settles in.
One of Chiko's favorite things is the pool - she absolutely loves the water and enjoys a good splash when she feels relaxed and confident.

Cats - If you wish to adopt a cat you are welcome to visit both our Wingfield and Edinburgh North locations between 10am and 3pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
Dogs - If you wish to adopt a dog, you are welcome to visit our Wingfield location between 10am and 3pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Dog adoptions from Edinburgh North are by application only. Please fill out the application form on the dog's profile and wait for our staff to contact you.

Once you have met an animal you would like to adopt, you can take them home the same day as all AWL animals are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and health checked ready for their new home (yes, even the kittens and puppies!)
