Rodney came into shelter very worried about the world around him. He was slow to trust, but with patience, understanding and plenty of yummy treats, he has gradually started to show us his true personality.
Rodney is beginning to blossom, and he is now ready to find his forever family. He will thrive in a quiet, peaceful home with people who understand that confidence takes time and are happy to let him relax, decompress and settle in at his own pace.
Rodney isn't looking to have a huge social circle, and he would be happiest with a small, calm world of people he knows and trusts. He would, however, love having some gentle doggie friends to follow around and learn from.
Rodney's family will need to be committed to ongoing training, confidence building and positive reinforcement, helping him learn that the world isn't such a scary place and supporting him as he continues to grow in confidence.
His new family may also need to be willing to come and meet him a few times, allowing him the opportunity to build trust and form a relationship with them before heading home.
Rodney is a large dog, so he will need a confident and physically fit owner who is comfortable managing his size and strength. He is best suited to an adult-only home where he can enjoy a predictable routine and plenty of patience. He is a sweet and gentle soul who just needs someone willing to give him the guidance, time and love he needs to continue growing in confidence.
If you're looking for a quiet companion and are ready to let a special little soul blossom in his own time, Rodney may just be your boy.
