At Christmas last year, you met the ‘reindeer puppies’ – Dasher, Prancer, Blitzen and Rudolph – who, abandoned at just three-months-old, learnt what it’s like to be cold and hungry. We thought you might like an update on how the puppies are doing now.

When Dasher, Prancer, and their siblings were found alone in a reserve, they were underweight, wary of the world and in desperate need of care. I don’t know how long these poor puppies had been alone and trying to survive, but it was clear they needed help to not only grow physically, but also to grow into their true confident selves!

Like every animal who spends time at Animal Welfare League, Dasher, Prancer, Blitzen and Rudolph deserved the chance to live happy and healthy lives filled with love. Thanks to the kindness and compassion of animal lovers like you, these sweet puppies are now healthy and living their happily-ever-afters with loving families.

Prancer

Prancer now spends her days lounging about in all the comfy spots of her new home – the cushy carpet, the lounge chair, her big cosy bed, the same crate she loved when she was in foster care, and course dad’s lap!

Rudolph fit so well into his foster family that he’s now a permanent part of the crew! He spends his days running around the rolling paddocks of his backyard with his dad and his big brother, Bruiser the bulldog!

Blitzen has wasted no time discovering all the good things life has to offer. Her favourite things to do are playing under the sprinkler and cuddling up next to her family, and her favourite food is beef trachea stuffed with kangaroo – girl’s got taste!

Rudolph & Blitzen

And in the words of Dasher’s dad, “she is just a beautiful kind-hearted girl who loves company and meeting new people and dogs. Her favourite place to sleep is obviously my bed as she gets to sprawl out and push me into one corner. But normally she loves the lounge chair next to me.

Can you believe she is 27kg and growing every day, one minute she looks beefy and the next minute she is another inch taller and looking trim. She loves the beach but looks so much forward to each evening playing with all the local dogs [at the park]."

Prancer & Rudolph

Their beautiful new lives have only been made possible thanks to caring people like you! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for loving these puppies, and all the other animals who come to Animal Welfare League.
