Your kind donation offers a new life for dogs like Spring: a life of a wagging tail, a curious sniff, a cosy nap. Because of you, she will become a daily reminder of the transformation that comes from love, patience and kindness.
When vet nurse, Jess, first saw Spring her heart broke,
"Spring didn't even know how to walk on a lead and was severely underweight for her size. It was heartbreaking to see her in that condition. Severe emaciation is serious and can be life-threatening because when a dog is starving, their body starts to break down muscles and organs for energy." - AWL vet nurse, Jess.

L-R: Spring when she first arrived at our shelter, Spring 'smelling the roses', Spring enjoying the sunshine.
Knowing that suddenly feeding an emaciated dog can cause heart complications and seizures among other medical emergencies, Jess knew how crucial a specialised feeding plan would be for Spring's survival and created one especially for Spring straight away.
Our team spent time with Spring, offering her food and unconditional love. Over the following weeks, Spring certainly had a spring in her step! Her wagging tail and affectionate personality were such a wonderful sight to see - her regular check-ups with our vet team brought a smile to everyone's face, seeing how far this sweet pup had come in her journey.
Your gift is a promise to dogs like Spring that there's always hope for a brighter future full of happiness.
Spring was placed in a foster home to continue her recovery in a quiet environment. Her foster carer, Sharwend, shared how his heart was filled with joy at seeing Spring's transformation,
"At first she was nervous, particularly around men, and she was uneasy around loud noises and cars...
but after some time to settle in and some socialising, she became more boisterous. Spring is also very affectionate - it only took about a day and then she would get as close as she could while I was sleeping and loved to be my side all the time." - Spring's foster dad, Sharwend.
For a girl who loves her food, to experience such horrendous hunger that her body had to slow its metabolism and begin using stored fat and muscle for energy, Spring seems in awe that she feels alive again and can enjoy food without worrying if there'll ever be more 💙.
