Take a tour of our state-of-the-art Animal Care Centre
Our Animal Care Centre at Wingfield is where the action is! The ACC houses cats, dogs and rabbits in an environment designed to help them overcome their fear and eventually get adopted into loving homes. The centre also features a veterinary clinic where our team tends to the medical needs of the animals in our care. Choose from two types of tours: general tours and education tours.
General Tours
If you'd like a peek behind the scenes of a working animal welfare organisation, this is the tour for you! You'll learn all about best practice animal care and wellbeing and we'll teach you everything you need to know about how Animal Welfare League operates. Our team will show you the intake area where the animals begin their rehoming journeys, the isolation wards where the team tends to sick animals so they don't spread disease, and even our state-of-the-art veterinary clinic where our vet team desexes, microchips and vaccinates the animals in our care before they find their furever homes. The highlight? You'll get to visit our cat condos and see some of the cats in our care! Each General Tour lasts for about an hour.
Education Tours
Designed specifically for groups of people (school groups, aged-care homes etc), our Education Tours are perfect if you'd like the comprehensive AWL experience. We'll tell you all about our mission and vision for animals in South Australia and the progressive, innovative and industry-leading animal care practices we undertake in our shelters. We'll also teach you all about responsible pet ownership! Our team will also take you on a firsthand tour of the Animal Care Centre where you'll learn all about an animal's journey through AWL, from the first time they come through our doors all the way through to when they're adopted into their furever families. Each Education Tour lasts about two hours.
