How do I adopt a pet?
Head to our adoption page via the button below to check out which animals are available for adoption. You can meet our cats by visiting either shelter locations at Wingfield or Edinburgh North. Our dogs are currently 'adopt by application', so please fill out the application form on the profile of the dog you wish to meet. Our team will then be in touch within 14 business days.
Where are your shelters located?
We have two shelter locations. Our Wingfield Animal Care Centre is located at 1-19 Cormack Road, Wingfield and is open from 10am to 3pm Tuesday to Sunday. Our Edinburgh North Shelter is located a 4 Hewittson Road, Edinburgh North and is open from 10am to 3pm Thursday to Sunday.
Can you put an animal on hold for me?
Unfortunately, we are unable to put an animal on hold without you meeting them first. It's important we give every animal the chance to find their perfect match.
I am from interstate, can I adopt?
We are unable to provide interstate adoptions unless you can travel to us to meet the animal first, and safely travel with your pet back home.
Why can’t I walk through and meet the dogs?
We have noticed that lots of people walking through the dog kennels creates a stressful environment for them. We only do dog meets by application now which provides the best and calmest environment for our furry friends. You can view all the dogs available for adoption by clicking the button below.
How can I become a Foster Carer?
Thank you so much for your interest! You can apply to become a foster carer by clicking the button and submitting the form on our website.
I've lost my pet. What do I do?
Please head to our Found Pets sections on our website using the buttons below to see if your pet has been handed in to us and for tips on other steps you can take.
If your pet is not listed, it's vital that you lodge a lost pet report using the button below, so if your pet is handed in we can contact you immediately. You should ensure the details on their microchip are up to date.
I've found an animal. What do I do?
Thank you for caring about the animal you have found! If there is no collar or owner details on the pet, please let your local Council know that you've found a lost pet as they'll be able to help you reunite them with their owner. Local vets may also be able to check the microchip of the pet to identify the current owner’s details. Thank you for helping this animal find its way again.

We are only able to offer our vet services to the animals in our care. If you’re looking for a vet near you, you can find one by clicking the button below.
How can I surrender my pet?
We're so sorry you need to make this difficult decision. Please give our friendly team a call on 8348 1300.
How can I donate items to AWL?
Thank you so much for thinking of us! We sincerely appreciate donations of clean good quality items – they go a long way in helping us care for animals in need. You can donate your items to our Thrift Shops in Tranmere or Gawler directly during their opening hours, or at our donation sorting centre in Gillman.
