Meet Rocky, the beautiful dog who has a new life thanks to caring sponsors
Rocky, a French Bulldog cross Staffordshire Terrier, was just six weeks old when he arrived at AWL. He was so tiny that he’d fit in the palm of your hand.
A member of the public found Rocky wandering outside of the Elizabeth shopping centre and brought him straight to our shelter. He was so young and vulnerable.
Our vet team noticed right away that Rocky had a cleft lip and palate that would require surgery. Many puppies with cleft palate don't survive long because of the associated health risks, but we were determined to give Rocky the best chance!
Rocky couldn’t have surgery until his adult teeth came through, so he stayed in our care for three months until he was finally ready to undergo three life-changing surgeries that would fix his cleft palate. He responded exceptionally well to all three surgeries, and had completely recovered within a month!
Rocky was adopted shortly after by Shelley and her family – it was love at first sight! Shelley recalls “Rocky chose us and we became his adoptive family. His personality and beautiful smile melted our hearts.”
Despite his rough start in life, Rocky grew up to be a loveable dog with boundless energy, and it was only possible thanks to our caring sponsors.
